Autumn 2007 - Time to put Darley Dale Juniors Back on the Map !!

In the autum of 2007, Darley Dale Juniors Committee members John Marsden, Steve Critchlow and Rob Wilson came up with an idea that was to change the future of the club and put Darley Dale Juniors FC firmly back on the map.

The 3 realised that with the youngest team at the club currently being under 11s, coupled with the growth of the local Rowsley Mini-Soccer League for children aged 6 upwards, the cream of Darley Dale's young footballers were heading to other local clubs to play their football. A solution to give all local children the opportunity to play for the club from the age of 6 was the only way to secure the future of Darley Dale Juniors. It was from this that the Saturday Soccer school idea was born.

Spring 2008 - The Start of the Staurday Soccer School

Having pledged to give up their time to run the soccer school each week and fund raise for the equipment needed, and having spoke to local parents who welcomed the idea, John, Steve and Rob convinced the other committee members to support the new initiative. Plans were put in place to write to all local Primary Schools to publicise the start of the sessions in April 2008.

The first session in April was attended by 12 children who thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Within a month the numbers attending had swelled to 30, and by the end of May 45 children were attending on a regular basis.

All the hard work from John, Steve, Rob and all the others involved was starting to pay dividends.
