Darley Dale Juniors FC News from 2009-10 Season
Late Spring 2009 - Return of the Saturday Soccer School
Some of the kids and coaches from the now legendary Saturday Soccer School
April saw the restart of the Saturday morning soccer school, following a successfull and enjoyable season.
All the coaches from the previous year returned along with their teams.
They were joined by a large number of new children from the local area keen to join Darley Dale Juniors.
From it's humble beginnings back in 2008, the Saturday soccer club was now hugely popular, with nearly 100
local children now registered. With the huge increase in the number of children attending each week,
the vision of the club for 2009 was to start 4 more new Mini-Soccer teams. Those being 2 x Under 7s teams
and an additional team in both the under 8 and under 9 age groups.
The existing coaches were joined by Dave Sammans, John Taylor, Richard Taylor and Ken Dalton in coaching
the youngsters each week, and the club now welcomed children from age 5 upwards.
Early Summer 2009 - Mini Tournaments and Fund Raising
Along with the Soccer School, the summer also saw the children take part in the annual Darley Dale Fun Day six a side tournament and the Inter-Club pre season six a side competition. Behind the scenes, the coaches and parents continued their hard work to raise funds and sponsorship for the new teams. Along with the 2 six a side tournaments there were quiz nights, a race night, a sponsored penalty shootout, a treasure hunt and a football match between the Darley Dale Juniors Old Boys v Coaches-Parents.
Late Summer 2009 - Record Breaking Number of Darley Dale Juniors Teams
In August 2009, the club entered the highest number of teams in it's history to the league
when it's existing 2 mini soccer teams were joined by 4 new teams.

A huge thank you must go to all the coaches and parents who willingly give up their time to help run all these teams, to all the sponsors for their financial support, and also to Darley Dale town council and the Whitworth Centre. But most of all a big thanks to all the children who turn out and play for the club each week and make it all worthwhile for those involved.

Cheer up lads ! We might win it next year...
A culmination of the growth of the club within the local community saw Darley Dale Juniors nominated by Darley Dale Town Council for the Derbyshire Dale Sports awards 2009. Despite strong competition from nominated sports clubs all over the Derbyshire Dales, Darley Dale Juniors were named as Runners-up in the Sports Club of the Year category.
Still to come in 2009-2010...
Spring 2010 will see the return of the ever popular Saturday Soccer School, and with a number of
5 years old already training with the club on a Monday evening the club will be looking to start
new under 7's teams for the 2010-2011 season.
All this helps prove that Darley Dale Juniors is now the fastest growing local junior football club in the area...
The futures bright, the futures Red And White!!
