2009-10 season...
8th Nov 2009 Hasland CFC U11s 2 Darley Dale Juniors U11s 1
The game started out with Darley dale showing great determination and applying all the early pressure and the Hasland goal had a charmed life as shot after shot rained in on the goal but none managing to find the back of it.
A lucky break led to a swift counter attack and despite Jack in goal and Archie running back from midfields best efforts Darley found themselves one nil down. This only seemed to inspire the Darley players and despite dominating the rest of the half they unfortunately couldn’t find the equaliser.
The second half saw a better display from Hasland but the Darley back four with Jason leading the way and substitute keeper Liam stood firm. Having soaked up the early second half pressure the Darley midfield came to life and a surging run from new signing Matt into the Hasland area saw him upended. Despite the penalty being missed the players carried on giving there all and there reward came in the shape of a free kick about 8 yards outside the box which was despatched into the top corner by Ty.
With the game all square the team pushed on looking for the winner which to there credit Hasland spotted there chance and snatched a late but lucky winner.
Man of the Match was Scott R.
15th Nov 2009 Wirksworth Colts Albion U11s 6 Darley Dale U11s 4
With Darley Dale being back to full strength and having all players fully fit and available was a huge boost for the trip to Wirksworth there was a real buzz and good feeling throughout the team. Unfortunately the 1st half started with the entire squad still being asleep and Wirksworth were soon into a 2-0 lead. Just has you could have started feeling the worse an alarm clock went off and the lads were playing even better than the Hasland match the week before.
With the back four (or should that be brick wall) of Dave, Anthony, Sam and Jason with Jack just behind them. The rest of the first half was all one way traffic and with Scott R, Harri, Matt and Archie running the midfield Darley were soon back in it with Ty grabbing his first with an effort from just outside the area. The second followed 2 minutes later when a long range effort was only parried by the keeper and with Scott S following up he squared the ball and Ty buried it for his 2nd.
The second half started with Darley having the advantage of the slope, and with substitutes Ben and Liam putting in fantastic performances, but despite this a quick break saw Wirksworth back in front, and an unfortunate o.g. saw the scores once again being level. A well worked move between Wirksworth's No’s 9 and 10 saw them take the lead once more. Darley then found an extra gear and set up camp in the Wirksworth half the back line never having to move very far from the halfway line. And this pressure soon paid and after 8 corners in a row Ty grabbed his 3rd and by far best of the game with a long range effort that flew into the top corner. With the scores being level and Darley again sensing the win they pushed forward and were nearly rewarded on a number of occasions unfortunately the Wirksworth goal suddenly had a charmed life.
A late goal by Wirksworth knocked the stuffing out of the Darley team who just couldn’t come back again, which led to the very late 6th for Wirksworth and with that the game was finished.

28th Feb 2010 Darley Dale U11s 6 Carr Vale Colts U11s 2
Darley Dale juniors U11's claimed their first win of the season with a convincing victory over Carr Vale Colts this weekend
The match started with the first few minutes being one way traffic towards the Carr Vale goal. The early pressure resulted in a corner and Sam’s perfect delivery was met at the far post buy a well positioned Scott R who put the ball in the back of the net. Darley then inspired by the early break through kept the pressure on and within minutes another Darley attack was thwarted by a rash challenge. From the resulting free kick, Ty picked him self up, placed the ball down, picked his spot and found the top corner. The next 10 minutes were very much even Stevens, if it hadn’t been for the Darley back four holding a perfect line and catching the Carr Vale forwards off side several times it could have been a different story. Eventually the resilient Darley defence was beaten by a long shot that just went over the head of the ever impressive Jack. The home team despite this minor set back kept their heads up and the remainder of the first half was a cracking and entertaining end to a game of football.
With the attitude and confidence the whole team showed Pete’s half time team talk was probably his easiest of the season. With a few encouraging words and a few tactical changes the team were eager to get back on the pitch and finish of the job they had started.
The second half kicked off the same way the first half had finished with both teams playing exceptional football. With the pitch starting to cut up the game stated to become a midfield battle and with an inspired bit of visionary and excellent timing of his run Matt was put clean through on goal and he calmly found the back of the net. This only seemed to inspire the Carr Vale Colts and they had soon pulled one back when the home team got slightly carried away on an attack and forgot about their defensive duties and were punished for there only mistake of the game. The home team responded well and straight from the kick off went on the attack and after a bit of scrappy play the ball fell to Archie on the edge of the box and he found the bottom corner of the net through a crowd of players. Every Darley player then geed on by this picked their game up to another level. With the game coming to an end Darley continued to attack and the pressure paid off when a brilliant corner caused confusion in the Carr Vale penalty area and the ball was unfortunately turned into his own net by a Carr Vale player. Darley weren’t finished there and kept the pressure on and with the clock ticking down another corner was perfectly delivered and Jack was in the perfect place to force the ball home. With that the game was over and not long after the restart the ref blow the full time whistle.
