Match Reports - 2011-12 Under 12s

Below is a list of all the match reports that have been done for the under 12's over the course of the 2011-12 season...

2011-10-02       Leabrooks U12s 4:2 Darley Dale Juniors U12s (Primary Cup Game)

Leabrooks looked the better team in the first half going two goals up and could have been more had the Darley defence not been so good at their offside drills. Jake Coe came on five minutes before the break and his first touch was a driving, dipping free kick which he masterly placed out of keepers reach into the top of the goal. Jacob Kenny, Brad Peter and Ben Gill played well in midfield pressing hard and delivering to Kyle Beers and Jamie Smith who both played well and had chances saved. Ben Gill got an equaliser, squeezing round the keeper and slotting the ball home. Darley pushed hard and had Leabrooks on the ropes for a while, but two strong counter breaks ended in the back of the Darley goal to see the lads give the game away. Nat Baker was brave in goal and made some terrific saves as always. George Yarwood and Keifer McDonald shared the sweeper position both contributing well up and down the pitch. Jakes Coe made a difference going forward and showed his skills passing and turning his opposition which earned him the Man of the match. A defeat in one sense but some credit to the Darley team, who are showing their potential and wins will come.

2011-09-25       Wirksworth Colts U12s 3:2 Darley Dale Juniors U12s (Primary Cup Game)

This was a very close exiting game with Darley starting the scoring with a bending corner (with help from the wind!) from Jamie Smith, which went into the net.

Wirksworth were strong and an organised team and drew level 5 mins before half time. Darley fought hard with some nice linked play through the middle of the field. Minutes before the break, Jai Burrows broke through Wirksworth defence and placed a nice goal over the keeper. Jamie Smith made some pacey attacks and also had a shot just wide of the post.

Chelsea Elliott had a good first half providing some great cover at the back and improving in the air with some headed clearances. New boy David Swindell also looked solid with James Mellor at the back and Steve Crowder.

Wirksworth pulled back in the second half and kept the pressure on. Darleys midfielder Ben Gill played a vital roll with clearances and linking up to Steve Crowder, Keifer McDonald and Kyle Beers up front. It was a great game to watch, almost going into extra time, when a goal mouth scramble was knocked over the line and Wirksworth were triumphant.

Darleys man of the match was Nat Baker who made some stunning saves, brave interceptions and great reading of the game - thanks Nat you are a star! Sorry to those not mentioned - next time!
