Below is a list of all the match reports that have been done for the under 14's over the course of the 2011-12 season...

2011-09-11       Darley Dale Juniors U14s 8:2 Wirksworth Colts U14s

As the saying goes ' revenge is a dish best served cold' ,and the Darley lads have certainly had a long wait to avenge the 6-0 drubbing Wirksworth served them back in March. But the fixtures computer served up this tasty treat of a local derby to begin the new season, and handed Darley the chance to regain the bragging rights from the dusty canyon lads. Manager Rob Wilson had spent the previous evening lining the bookies pocket at the greyhound racing and was hoping lady luck felt she owed him one after his numerous disastorous flutters on our four legged friends and would give him a change of luck. But that looked highly unlikely when he lost 3 players to illness or injury before kick off, including Number 1 keeper Josh Dabel was taken ill after over exerting hiself in a cycling race and Midfield terrier Dan Ward was taken ill with Altitude sickness due to Sheffield Uniteds lofty posistion in League One and will no doubt need intensive counselling when the Blades bubble bursts and his dream of promotion dies! So a enforced reshuffle saw them stick with the formation that had seen them score 12 goals in 2 pre season games but with a couple of personel changes.Aaron (asbo) Gadsby took over in goal,Tom Wilson,Finn Hanney and Andy Walton formed the defensive trio with Dan Mountney and James Boshier taking on the Wing back Roles. The Midfield was made up of Dan Bailey,Connor Pheasey and new signing Tyler Stevens ,Up front Aaron (Biggy) Hardy and another new signing Ed Mellor got the nod to lead the line. Straight from kick off it was obvious Darley were up for this game big time as they tore into Wirksworth and Pheasey,Bailey and Stevens were soon pulling the strings in Midfield, and with the pacy wing backs of Mountney and Boshier tearing up and down the flanks they soon started to carve out chances. 10 minutes in good team play found Stevens with time and space to put Darley in front with a cool finish and he quickly followed that up with a great free kick from 30 yards that sailed into the top corner. Two up and looking in control Darley took their foot of the gas and were punished by a quick Wirksworth attack which saw Gadsby in goal beaten to make it 2-1 and leave the game finely balanced. This was the wake up call Darley needed and they regrouped and began to heap the pressure on the Wirksworth back line, some good work by Bailey and Stevens then saw the former find Boshier out wide who cut inside and found the bottom corner of the net to make it 3-1 and to heap more misery on their opponents this was quickly followed by Stevens lobbing the Wirksworth keeper from the half way line to complete a first half hat trick in sublime fashion and make it 4-1. But back came Wirksworth as Darley again switched off and paid the price yet again when Gadsby was beaten by a well taken shot to make it 4-2 at half time. Having gone into the break kicking themselves for conceding a goal,Darley were rapid out of the blocks for the second half and looked determined to put Wirksworth to the sword. Within 10 minutes it was Stevens yet again who smashed home to make it 5-2 with a goal that seemed to knock the stuffing out of Wirksworth as Darley took firm control of the game. Defenders Wilson,Hanney and Walton were easily dealing with any threats to their goal along with Gadsby who was having a great game deputising in goal, and this allowed Darley to keep pushing forward looking for more goals. Sub Conor Mcdonald now entered the fray and after only a few minutes on the pitch turned well in the box and slotted home to make it 6-2,with their opponents now clinging on for dear life trying to limit the damage Pheasey added to their misery as he found the net to make it 7-2.With Wirksworth now penned in their own half the keeper was working overtime and with the help of the post and bar he managed to keep out Baileys 35 yard drive, along with efforts from Mellor,Hardy,Stevens and Mountney and it really was only a matter of time before his luck ran out,and run out it did as man of the match Stevens broke through and tucked away his 5th goal of the game to make the score 8-2 .The final whistle brought to a end Wirksworths misery and sparked celebrations from the Darley faithfull who had witnessed a emphatic win that gives the under 14s a great start to the season.
