Match Reports - 2011-12 Under 8s

Below is a list of all the match reports that have been done for the under 8's over the course of the 2011-12 season...

2012-03-03       Darley Dale Juniors U8s Dynamoes 2:0 Carr Vale U8s

Darley went through to the next round of the cup with a well-deserved victory over a tough-tackling Carr Vale side. The Dynamoes attacked from the off and nearly took an early lead when Dylan Bayes' long range shot flew narrowly over the bar. Joe Novelli and James Andrews both went close to scoring but some brave goalkeeping denied them. Left winger Tommy Gill was closing to breaking through on a couple of occasions but more strong defending from Carr Vale kept him out whilst Bayes whistled another long range shot just passed the post. At the other end, Darley's keeper Josh Harrison and defender Sam Gould, both dealt superbly with a series of dangerous corners, whilst captain Josh Snape was fantastic in organising the players. Halfway through the 2nd half and the match looked like it might be heading for penalties, but the deadlock was finally broken when Jake Tabbenor found Gill, who charged down the left and his great cross was passed on by Bayes for Snape to crash home his 2nd goal of the season. Carr Vale tried to push forward in search of an equaliser but Harrison and Gould dealt well with a couple of dangerous situations, and Darley killed off any hopes of a comeback as Novelli, Andrews and Gill combined to release Bayes from midfield, who ran onto the through ball and hammered home his 15th of the season to send Darley through. Man of the match for Darley was Josh Snape for a genuine captain's performance.

2011-10-01       Darley Dale Juniors U8s Dynamoes 2:1 Wirksworth Colts Sonics U8s

Darley kept up their 100% start to the season but were given a fright as Wirksworth produced a storming 2nd half fightback that left the Dynamoes holding on. Darley took an early lead, Ben Crooks lashing home into the corner of the net from Jake Tabbenor's pass. Dylan Bayes nearly made it two, his left foot howitzer stopped by an incredible save from the Sonics keeper. He made two more great saves soon after, tipping Tommy Gill's fine shot round the post and then saving Bayes' penalty. Crooks finally gave Darley some breathing space as he made it two with a cool finish from just inside the penalty box. It was genuine game of two halves though, as Wirksworth camped themselves in Darley's half for long periods and got the goal their determination deserved when they scored direct from a corner. Only some strong tackling at the back from man of the match Josh Snape along with Thomas Wiggley and Billy Talbot prevented an equaliser, although James Andrews and Josh Harrison both went close with two decent breaks.

2011-09-25       Darley Dale Juniors U8s Dynamoes 8:1 Wirksworth Colts Jets U8s

The Dynamoes made it 3 wins out of 3 with an impressive victory over wirksworth. The first goal came within the opening minute, a great pass from Tommy Gill finding Ben Crooks, his shot was saved but Dylan Bayes lashed in the rebound. The Dynamoes had a great shape about them with Gill and Jake Tabbenor constantly providing a stream of dangerous passes from wide positions. A great pass from Joe Novelli at the back set up the 2nd goal, rifled in by Crooks, whilst Bayes made it 3 with a curling freekick from outside the box. A good block from Josh Harrison and strong tackling from Josh Snape kept the Colts at bay before good work from Tabbenor set up Crooks for the 4th. Darley started the 2nd half in style as two sweaping passing moves both resulted in goals, Crooks chipped in a beauty from Gill's pass, whilst Bayes fired home after a great exchange with Sam Gould. A last ditch tackle at the other end from Thomas Wiggley prevented a goal but Wirksworth got the goal there hard work deserved moments later from close range. Darley upped the tempo again for the final minutes, Tabbenor released Crooks with another great pass and he clipped home cooly. Darley completed the scoring in the final few minutes, great work from man of the match Gill free'd Bayes, and his clinical finish did the rest.

2011-09-17       Darley Dale Juniors U8s Dynamoes 4:0 Tansley Juniors U8s

Darley kept up their 100% start to the season with an emphatic win over Tansley. A couple of great passes from Jake Tabbenor gave Ben Crooks some early chances, but some good goalkeeping denied him. A strong run from Tommy Gill supplied Dylan Bayes and he made no mistake from just inside the box to open the scoring. Bayes made it two just before half time, a great pass from Josh Snape finding him on the right and he skipped past a couple of defenders before slotting home. Sam Gould and Thomas Wiggley exchanged passes and provided Joe Novelli with a good chance but a brave block from the keeper kept him out. The Tansley keeper was helpless moments later though as Bayes hit the post but James Andrews slammed home from the rebound for his 2nd of the season. A fine save from Josh Harrison and some great tackling back from Tabbenor, Gill and Billy Talbot meant Darley finished with a clean sheet, whilst man-of-the-match Bayes completed his hatrick with the last kick of the match, his left wing cross going straight past the keeper.

2011-09-11       Darley Dale Juniors U8s Dynamoes 4:1 Matlock Spartans U8s

Darley started their season in style with a fine win over local rivals Matlock. Tommy Gill and Dylan Bayes immediately caused Matlock problems from the start with some great moves down the left, whilst Ben Crooks came within inches of opening the scoring after a great pass from Jake Tabbenor. Bayes opened the scoring midway through the first half, after a lovely pass from Sam Gould. Minutes later James Andrews intercepted a pass and slammed home to make it two from outside the box. A fine through ball by Gill put Crooks through but the keeper made a great save. The 2nd half started off a much closer affair, and only a couple of brave saves from Josh Harrison and some strong defending from Josh Snape and Gould kept Darley's two goal cushion. Having survived Matlock's mini revival, Darley made the game safe with a flowing move, started by Thomas Wiggley and Billy Talbot, and eventually stabbed home from close range by Joe Novelli. With Snape, Bayes and Gill running themselves into the ground Darley were in control again and Tabbenor nearly opened his account but was denied by another fine save by the Spartans keeper. Darley saved their best goal for last, another sweeping move finished off by Bayes as he curled a left footer into the roof of the net. Man of the match for Darley was Sam Gould, for a great performance in defence.
